ClimateStore Joins Climate Action Business Association
February 26, 2015
.ClimateStore’s mission is to make it easy for people to reduce their individual carbon footprint in the era of human caused climate change. And consistent with our mission, we're taking steps to do our part. Our business operations are carbon neutral, we recycle, encourage employees to take public transit, and participate in community programs. Our latest initiative is joining the Climate Action Business Association!
The Climate Action Business Association (CABA) is a coalition of businesses taking action on climate change. Coalition members set policy priorities, and create opportunities for business owners to leverage voice in both city, state, and nationwide policy. Through the coalition, member businesses have a voice in the legislative process, and are able to lobby for stronger local sustainability initiatives and binding climate policies. Some of the current issues on the table for CABA in Massachusetts are:
- Climate Adaptation Management Plan bill
- Putting a price on carbon
- Property Assessed Clean Energy
- Net metering
CABA also provides support for the sustainability efforts of its members. By sharing expertise and connecting with knowledgeable experts, member businesses are able to quickly learn from each other, creating a strong network and collection of best practices. One of these initiatives is Boston BARS (Businesses Acting on Rising Seas). Boston BARS is a toolkit for local businesses to become better prepared for the impacts of climate change. The more prepared businesses are, the less likely climate change will negatively affect their bottom lines in the future.
Since ClimateStore was founded with the mission of reducing climate change impacts, our business is clearly aligned with that of other CABA members. We look forward to getting to know the other businesses and becoming a strong voice for climate change action in our community!
