ReFleece is an innovative company that creates modern designs from reclaimed fabrics. Using wool, fleece, raincoats, and other materials from retailers such as Patagonia and Woolrich, the company has developed a product line of beautifully crafted tablet and e-reader cases, zippered bags, and pressed bowls. With a sustainability philosophy at its core, ReFleece uses almost all recycled/upcycled products, does not re-dye materials, and uses a low energy production process. In addition, the company seeks to reduce transportation distances in procurement and distribution by making all of its products in the USA. ReFleece is a fellow member of 1% for the Planet, which guarantees that it gives at least 1% of sales revenue to nonprofits with a sustainability mission.
ReFleece products are made from almost all recycled/upcycled content - most of their materials comes from recovered, post consumer garments, collected through Patagonia's Common Threads Program. Depending on the case in question, only the thread for sewing, some colors of elastic, and/or the snaps are made from virgin materials. This avoids the manufacturing, melting, or redyeding of the raw, synthetic materials.
You can recycle the "Classic" and "Wild Side" ReFleece pieces in your home bins, as long as your municipality can handle PET plastics (and most can). If you are unsure whether or not your community recycles PET materials, another safe bet is to return the items to Common Threads boxes in Patagonia stores, or send them right back to ReFleece.
