Knog is committed to working with their suppliers and designers to improve the environmental impact of Knog products. Their headquarters is run on 100% wind power, 3⁄4 of their trash is recycled and all business travel is carbon offset. Their product packing is carefully designed to minimum waste and made from 100% recyclable sugarcane pulp and PET. They treat all materials with respect; minimizing the amount used, and making sure all products are as well designed as possible so they will have a long life.
By using USB rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones, Knog Blinders will save over 30 batteries over the lifetime of the light. And more important than that, we hope that useful accessories like these can lower barriers and encourage more people to take up fun, easy, and safe bike commutes. Personal transport accounts for up to 25% of national wide carbon emissions, so biking instead of driving is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint!
Assuming the light is used one hour everyday, an LED bike light with the same brightness would use about 60 batteries per year. That means saving about $40 per year for every light on your bike.
